Matthew Chapter  Thirteen

Jesus boarded a ship and continued to preach.

To a crowd that had gathered on the beach.

His sermons were the telling of parables,

And some were saying His sermons were terrible.

Jesus said, to the simple and honest they were clear

But those prejudiced they could not care

They have eyes and ears and yet will not believe

Again the Prophets said that's the way it would be.

His parable about the Sower would be an example

His soils were different but his seed was ample.

The wayside, the stony, the thorny was a waste

The good ground produced much---Jesus made His case

Another parable, a man sowed his wheat.

His enemies sowed tares while he was asleep.

When the wheat and the tares sprang up

His servants said the tares should be plucked.

The farmer said "No, we'll do that at harvest

And burn the tares with the roughest."

After several more parables Jesus returned home

And taught in the Synagogue to those who had come.

What they heard they were atonished beyond belief.

"Who is this man?  We know His whole family!"
