Sermons by Clennie C. Johns

Clennie C. Johns
1918-2014

Clennie C. Johns was born May 10th, 1918 in Paragould, Arkansas.  He was married to Clementine L. Pound(Kentucky) in 1949 in Searcy, Arkansas.  He served in World War II as a flight Instructor for the Army Air Corps outside of Los Angeles, CA.  After the war he attended Pepperdine College (now Pepperdine Univ.)  Clennie was a personal friend of George Pepperdine and was in part inspired by that association to preach the Gospel.  He transferred to Harding College, where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree and where he met his future wife, graduating from Harding in 1949.

Note: Clennie was the brother-in-law of Ralph L. Starling of Texas, another truly "Great Preacher" of the Word.  Ralph was married to Clennie's sister "Dot" of Paragould, Arkansas.

Upon his marriage to Clementine (see above), Clennie and his bride moved to her home state of Kentucky, where Clennie taught school for over 30 years.  During that time, Clennie obtained his Masters in Special Education in 1965 from the University of Louisville.  Clennie had 30 hrs toward his Doctorate, but decided preaching the Gospel was more important.  Clennie preached for several congregations in Kentucky, Indiana and his home state of Arkansas.  His crowning achievement as a faithful Christian was the results of his preaching.  Many souls were saved and many congregations were "strengthened" and "built up" as a result of his efforts in the Lord's kingdom.  To this great husband and "loving father," I dedicate this page.   Clennine passed away in our arms on Feb. 5th, 2014, just a few months shy of his 96th birthday.  He was my "hero" and we miss him so much, but look forward to meeting him again on the other side of life.
