Nehemiah, the King’s Trustee and cupbearer
A God fearing man and a man of prayer
Along with a Jewish girl, Queen Esther
Had won King Artaxerxes trust and favor

As ruler over Jerusalem he became interested
And told Nehemiah to go and rebuild it
Nehemiah true to his nature went to God in prayer
And soon the gates of Jerusalem were repaired

Old time enemies made havoc outright
But they worked on the wall both day and night
In 52 days this work was completed
J erusalemwas again a fortified city

Now the task was to organize every day life
Daily they taught what God said was right
lt brought about a wave of repentance
A nd the wall was dedicated with no further hindrance

Sins about tithes, Sabbath and marriages
Social problems that needed correcting
Nehemiah lived to a good old age
And we honor his godliness to this day
