Numbers

Moses is commanded to number the people
The names are given of those assisting
The number of the 12 tribes each to be given
But the tribe of Levi was to be exempted

The arrangement of the camp was given attention
With special hosts serving in every direction
Total number of Israel was 603,550
But the Levites were not to be listed

The duties of Aaron’s sons are now outlined
And the number in their families assigned
The “Nazarite Vow” is explained to them
A vow that would serve God and only Him

The Princes now bring offerings to the Tabernacle
Being “dedicated” it’s work would be ample
The ceremony of dedication was most impressive
And the Levites were ordained for its service

The Passover is now commanded to be kept
It was the 2nd year and 14” day since Egypt
The Tabernacle had a cloud by day, fire by night
These would lead them from site to site

Two silver trumpets would sound the alarms
With certain signals to be properly warned
The journey was not easy and the people were tired
There was no meat and the manna was soured

Moses went to God feeling down-hearted & defeated
These people are too much for me to be leading
He told Moses to call seventy of the Elders
Andewe will talk to the people together

God promised them meat ‘till it ran out their noses
And they would regret they had been so noisy
He sent quails to the camp a days journey each side
And the quails fell to a depth of 12 cubits high

Now Aaron and Miriam complain against Moses
For he had married an Ethiopian woman
God came down saying, “Moses is my leaderl”
Miriam was punished becoming a Leper

12 Spies were sent out to spy out Canaan
To see if it was what they had been aiming
They reported it was truly a land of milk and honey
But their armies are more than we can handle

Again the people forgot God’s power could meet it
And they wanted to go back to life in Egypt
Moses interceded and again God rescinded
But these will die here, another generation will enter

Sacrifices are described for various offences
And reminded to remember God’s commandments
Korah and his brethren now rebel against Moses
Accusing him of not fulfilling his promise

God’s punishment leaves one with great wonder
And should warn others to avoid such blunders
Moses was told to prepare a Rod for each offender
And the Rod that budded would be their leader

Now the task to take over Canaan began
None of the Kings would agree to any plan
Balaam was called upon to curse Israel
But Balaam could only promise no ill

Problems were many as they occupied the land
Moses was told a new leader was in demand
God said, prepare Joshua to take command
Following this many offering were outlined

God told Moses to make a Diary of their 42 journeys
And outlined to him how the land was to be parted
Certain “civil laws” were to be enacted
To be the “land of milk and honey” that was stated
